The works are figurative and explore personal experience. Cathy uses personal objects and places of significance in conjunction with nursery rhymes and traditional English children’s stories as the stimuli for the work presented.

The large mixed media figurative works are initially based upon childhood memories and cherished toys drawn from direct observation. Places of emotional significance and costumes are all combined to create a tableau of narrative episodes. They look to explore the transient world that exists between childhood & adulthood. Remembrance of traditional stories and rhymes play a prominent role throughout.

Travel and displacement is a strong theme throughout the work, taking the viewer on a secret journey.
